- Studying lesions may be limited use as there are massive differences between the functioning of the nervous system to ours
- More possible to create damage to an animals brain than humans
- More valid as animals don't have any prior knowledge that will affect their behaviour

- Possible to isolate animals from other variables, IV,DV more accurate
