    • Sabbat
      • Diabolism-activity which would occur at the Sabbat (worshipping the Devil) stemmed from early pagan beliefs.

      • Confession lead to torture, which made sure that people named others.
      • This created a snowball effect and as the use of torture ramped up the severity + intensity of the hunts, making it a craze.
      • This resulted in a chain-reaction as torture would force people to confess and name others.
        • Torture + Chain reaction occurring most seen in it's extremist form in the Holy Roman Empire as weak central authority meant that torture was more likely to be allowed and widely used.
          • Ellwangen an area that is a part of the Holy Roman Empire
          • Authorities in the Holy Roman Empire, directly contrasted against the Paris Parlement handled prosecutions better than most areas in the HRE.
