- Key Terms
- Cofounding Variables
- Variables that may affect some participants behaviour.
- Operationalism of variables
- Giving a precise definition of the IV and DV. This allows for repetition and raises the reliability of the research.
- Null hypothesis
- Suggest no difference between variables
- Directional Hypothesis
- Hypothesis that suggests a relationship between the variables. States a specific direction.
- Independent variable
- The variable that is being manipulated
- Dependent Variable
- Variable that is being measured
- Alternative Hypothesis
- A testable statement that a piece of reserch attempts to support or reject.
- Non-directional Hypothesis
- Hypothesis that suggest the relationship between variables but doesn't sate a specific direction.
- Extraneous Variables
- Variables other than the IV that may affect the DV. This variable will affect all participants behaviour.
- Aim of research
- Broad statement of the purpose of the research.
- Co-variables
- Indicate two or more quantities being measured in a correlation by researcher.
- Cofounding Variables
