- Superior judges can only be removed the Queen following a request by BOTH houses of parliament
- This allows judges to make decisions against the gov without fear of being dismissed
- They can't be used for decisions made in cases (Sirros v Moore 1975)
- Allows judges to perform duties without fear of repercussions
- Judicial independence is guaranteed- Constitutional Reform Act 2005
- Lord Chancellor/ other ministers must not influence decisions
- Must not try a case where they have any interests in issue (Pinochet Case 1998)
- Judges must be completely impartial when making decisions
