    • Incarnation
      • A person who embodies a deity, spirit or quality in the flesh (Jesus)
      • Jesus is God incarnate
      • Jesus' life on earth is the perfect example of how God wants humans to live
    • The Story
      • 1) Palm Sunday
        • The day Jesus arrived in Jerusalem on a donkey to celebrate Passover
        • He was hailed the Messiah and King of the Jews and people threw palm leaves and their coats at his feet. Marks the beginning of Holy Week
      • 2) The Last Supper
        • Jesus + disciples celebrated their Passover meal. He broke bread and drank wine so the disciples would do the same to remember him. Announced his Father's plan for him.
        • Last meal Jesus ate on earth.
      • 3) The Garden of Gethsemane
        • Jesus + disciples went to Gethsemane. They watched him while he prayed.
        • He asked God to take the pain of his plan if there was another way. God said Jesus must do it for love.
      • 4) Betrayal and arrest
        • Judas betrayed Jesus for silver and kissed him on the cheek to show he was the man they wanted
        • Most disciples fled in fear but Peter took out his sword to try and stop them. Jesus told Peter he would go peacefully and God's plan would unfold. He was taken to Pontius Pilate for trial.
      • 5) Crucified Christ
        • Sentenced to crucifixion. Taken, mocked and beaten by his guards. Given a crown of thorns, staff and robe like he were a king
        • Made to carry his cross to the top of the hill.
      • 6) Jesus is Risen
        • Placed in a sealed tomb with two guards after he died
        • He was resurrected after 3 days. Mary Magdalene was the first to see him- he told her not to be afraid.
    • Resurrection
      • Rising from the dead
      • He was free from original sin that leads to death
      • Evidence that Jesus was God incarnate
      • All 4 gospels show that Jesus' tomb was empty when women went to embalm his body the Sunday after his death
    • The Ascension
      • Forty days after Jesus' resurrection
      • 'he was taken up to heaven as they watched him, and a cloud hid him from their sight'
      • Jesus was the final sacrifice.
      • Literal Belief
        • Heaven is above earth and hell is below.
        • Jesus literally returns back up to heaven
      • Symbolic Belief
        • Jesus 'rising' symbolises good being triumphant over evil
    • Atonement
      • Belief that Jesus dies as a substitute on the people's behalf
      • Jesus bridged the gap between God and the people
    • Salvation
      • Deliverance from sin and it's censequences
