    • Invasion began in October 1935
    • Mussolini ignored advice from top generals and continued with his mission to invade North Africa
      • Troops sent from Abyssinia to British Somaliland, also sent into Sudan and Kenya
    • Invasion of ordered Egypt along Suez Canal-Sept 1940
      • Led to devastating counter-attack from Allies
        • By April 1941 British forces had reclaimed Abyssinia
    • Beginning of 1941-125,000 Italian soldiers held prisoner by British
      • After this humiliating defeat, German soldiers sent in to help the situation for the Italian
    • Surrendered on 12 May 1943
      • Paved the way for Allied invasion of Sicily in July.
