        • Festival of sacrifcice, lasts for 4 days
        • Celebrated on the 10th day of the month of Dhul-Hijjah
        • Remembers and honours the prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son on God's command.
        • Forms part of Hajj, people visit family and enjoy festive meals. Begins with prayer in the mosques. Animals are also slaughtered to remember Ibrahims sacrifice
      • Ashura
        • Day of morning and atonement
          • Remembers the death of Hussein, grandson of Muhammad in the Karbala.
            • Battle  between Hussein and the army of Caliph Yazid.
            • Shi'a muslims fast all day, self-flagilation to re-inact the event and remember Hussein.
    • Jihad
      • struggling against evil
        • greater jihad
          • inward struggle to keep faith
        • lesser jihad
          • outward sturggle to protect faith
      • "This is my oath leading straight, so follow it"
