- Ali- Sunnis believe Ali was a righteous companion and the fourth leader of the Muslim world after Muhammad's death. However, Shia believe that Ali should have been the first leader/caliph/imam after Muhammad's death because he was the closest blood relation to the Prophet. They highly revere him.
