- War and conflict have always played a crucial role in human history

- Since ancient times, man always thought their God or God's to protect them at times of conflict
- The Bible offers many examples of God intervening to protect his people

- Yet, within the same scriptures they speak of peace and non-violence
- Jesus said -
- 'Put your sword back into its place; for all who take the sword will perish by the sword' - Matthew 26:52

- This is the problem facing religious believers
- Should they fight in a war or not?
- Jesus told his followers not to fight or resist anger.
- Instead Jesus taught about the importance of righteousness and peace and to love thy enemies
