    • Decline of Hoover's Presidency: Lassiez-faire approach wasn't effective for a time such as the GD. Congress began to reject his proposed policies. Resulted in a shift from republic support to democratic
      • Shanty Towns: Homeless built them and named them Hoovervilles to blame Hoover for the increase in unemployment and the depletion of savings. Used Hoover blankets (newspapers) to keep them warm
        • Hoover Flags: Trouser pockets turned inside out to symbolise the lack of money.
    • Roosevelt proposed a New Deal to help solve poverty
    • Mass Unemployment. Agriculture became economically stagnant. 20% of banks collapsed.
