- Purpose
- Peace treaty at the end of WWI
- Ended state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers
- Signed 28th June 1919, 5 years after the assassination of Archuduke Franz Ferdinand
- War Guilt
- Germany had to accept full responsibility for the war
- Reparations
- £6.6 billion. They would have to pay a certiain amount over 42 years
- Territorial Change
- Germany forbidden to unite with Austria
- Alsace and Lorraine were returned to France
- L of N were meant to control the Saar for 15 years, but France controlled the coal fields.
- Germany lost all their colonies to Britain and France to rule until they could rule themselves.
- West Prussia, Posen, and a part of Upper Silesia were given to Poland
- Germany lost the land they had taken from Russia in the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk

- The main role was to ensure the factors of the Treaty of Versailles were carried out.
