  • Hard and Soft Water
    • Hard Water
      • Contains minerals and ions
        • Magnesium
        • Calcium
        • Sodium
        • The ions enter the water from the  rocks as the water runs down the mountain
      • Test for Hard and Soft water
        • Add soap
          • If lather doesn't form its HARD WATER
          • If lather does form its SOFT WATER
      • Creates Scum
        • Product of the reaction  between the HARD WATER and the soap
      • Advantages
        • Health
          • Calcium- bones and teeth
      • Disadvantage
        • Limescale
          • Blocks pipes
          • Makes electrical appliences less efficient
        • Harsh for household jobs
      • Creates Limescale
        • Limestone = Calcium Carbonate
    • Soft Water
      • Test for Hard and Soft water
        • Add soap
          • If lather doesn't form its HARD WATER
          • If lather does form its SOFT WATER
      • Advantages
        • Less limescale
        • Detergents work better
        • Better for household jobs
      • Disadvantage
        • No minerals such as calcium
        • High sodium levels from water softener can damage plants
