      • His successor, Truman - didn't like soviets,
        • Truman feared= democratic elections (eastern Europe) wouldn't happen. even though they had agreed
        • Stalin had mutual feeling as Truman dropped atomic bomb without consulting Russia
          • Stalin believed USSR thought US trying to take over Western Europe
            • Marshall plan introduced so west could recover from war.
              • Made Soviets suspicious
              • Stalin response: blockading Western Berlin
        • US thought USSR going to take over Eastern Europe
    • As war ended; US troops had to remain in Europe
      • There were war criminals to arrest and civil order had to be maintained
        • Large scale internal migration of Germans needed to be policed. so did objects (Potsdam)
    • Soviets failed to send agricultural good to west
      • Led to west fearful of communism  being created
        • West don't want communism as they feared it
        • Therefore= Bizonia and US pressure on Western voters to vote fro democratic parties
          • US tried to maintain security of the Democratic nations in the west.
