  • Getting Ahead - Music - Green Day at Reading 2013
    • Instruments and music knowledge
      • They never really take a break, they play songs straight after another one has finished
        • Sometimes songs slow down so some band members can take a short break from playing
      • Some songs are faster then the official records
        • It works for some songs but feels unnecessary for others
      • Backing singers are clear but sometimes out of pitch
      • Noticeably in Boulevard of Broken Dreams Billie is off pitch
      • There is a lot of improvisation
        • Simply adding an extra note or chord adds a nice touch
        • Songs end differently with a guitar solo sometimes
        • Sections of songs are extended
      • Effects are added to guitars
        • Timed perfectly
        • Reverb, wah-wah and flanger
      • All instruments sound in tune
      • At the end of the second to last song all band members leave
        • Billie returns to play one last song
          • After that, he leaves and "Green Day" is illuminated on stage before slowly fading out

      • All the instruments are clear and balanced
        • Volume is increased when an instrument has a solo
      • Plenty of space to move around as the stage is massive
        • The stage itself is quite dull
      • Makeup and general band presentation is done well and looks tidy
      • Steps are used to raise the drum kit or for a band member to use
      • Lighting is incredible and changes the mood for each song
        • Aggressive songs have harsh, flashing lights
        • Calmer/slower songs have bright and still lighting such as spotlights

      • Lots of hand clapping to beat of songs
      • Before the show starts, Tre Cool hypes the audience
        • Blitzkrieg Bop is played so audience can sing "Ay-oh lets go"
        • Cheering and hand clapping to really get audience excited
      • Songs are played differently from the official records so the audience can join in

      • The band and teams clearly communicate with each other so they all know know what's going on
        • When they say "Turn out the lights" the lights go out instantly
