Good Shepherd
- Jesus is the best shepherd because he is willing to die for his flock

- OT: God is often described as a shepherd (e.g. Psalm 23)

- Shepherds call their sheep to safety, Jesus called humanity (& disciples) in times of corruption

- Salvation: God is seen as the shepherd, so Jesus is how to get to him
- Shepherds lay at the gate to protect their flock: Jesus did this
