  • Gibson & Walk: Finding & Conclusions.
    • Human Infants: 27/36 moved off c.b - all to s.s at least once, 3 to d.s. Patted glass but visual drop stopped them.
    • Chicks, kids & lambs: Never went to d.s - if placed on, froze in defensive posture.
    • Rats: Felt surface with whiskers = b.s. Unable to feel surface = s.s.
    • Kittens: Pref s.s, placed on d.s = froze or return to c.b. D/r = b.s. Week in light = s.s.
    • Turtles: 76% s.s
    • Findings: v.c of m.p = rats & chicks pref s.s. R.s = chicks & d/r rats = no pref
    • Conclusions: H/n-h infants p.d by time they crawl = supports nativist d.p is innate. Turtles poor at d.p (why). M.p is innate v.c, r.s is learnt depth cue.
