- Wanted to take over Germany from Friedrich Ebert
- Revolution attempt on 6th Jan.
- NOT successful- in a week Ebert and help from Freikorps managed to stop the rebellion & killed many communist.
- Friekorps were ex-soldiers from WW! that were paid to help the Govn keep order.
- Leader of communist party, Rosa Luxemburg & Karl Leibnecht, were muredered.
- Helpful for Ebert , that the Spartacist were no longer a threat, yet he had to rely on the Freikorps, which made him look weak and they could've turned against him at any point.
- German Communist continued to create riots even though their attempt failed. Friekorps were sent around to fight and stop them.
- Right Wing- 19120
- Friekorps went against Ebert as they supported 'Wolfgang Kapp' in his attempt to take over the country: Kapp Putsch
- Putsch failed as workers in Berlin went on strike and refused to support the Friekorps.
- 200+ connected to the constituton were assassinated (1919-23).
- Walther Rathenau, politician involved with the armistice & Treaty of Versailles
- Assassination showed how much they hated their new Govn & made people feel bad as they were'nt doing a good job in stopping the violence in the streets.
