    • Types of Erosion
      • HYDRAULIC ACTION - the force of the river against the banks.
      • ABRASION -  rocks carried along by the river wear down the river bed and banks.
      • ATTRITION - rocks being carried by the river smash together and break into smaller, smoother and rounder particles.
      • SOLUTION - soluble particles are dissolved into the river.
    • COASTAL MANAGEMENT
      • HARD ENGINEERING
        • SEA WALL - A wall built on the edge of the coastline.
        • GROYNES - A wooden barrier built at right angles to the beach.
        • ROCK ARMOUR - Large boulders are piled up on the beach.
      • SOFT ENGINEERING
        • BEACH MANAGEMENT -This replaces beach or cliff material that has been removed by erosion or longshore drift.
        • MANAGED RETREAT - Areas of the coast are allowed to erode and flood naturally. Usually this will be areas considered to be of low value
    • DEPOSITION LANDFORM
      • BEACHES - Beaches are made up of eroded material that has been transported from elsewhere and deposited by the sea.
        • CONSTRUCTIVE WAVES - help to build up beaches. The material found on a beach
        • DESTRUCTIVE WAVES -strong waves when the wind is powerful and has been blowing for a long time.
      • SPITS - A spit is an extended stretch of beach material that projects out to sea and is joined to the mainland at one end.
      • TOMBOLO - A tombolo is a spit connecting an island to the mainland.
      • SAND DUNES - Sand dunes are small ridges or hills of sand found at the top of a beach
