        • WILKINSON: economy has become more feminised + more positive female role models in society= led to a 'gender quake': what it means to be a woman (attitudes changed in recent generations)
        • SHARPE: girls priorities have changed= education, career + independence now the defining features of female identity + self-esteem

          • ABBOTT (2000): Men keener interest in appearance/ growing confidence in expressing themselves/ male identity= increasingly changing
