    • Born 129 AD, and started studying at 16
    • He spent four years as a gladiator surgeon and was the personal doctor to numerous emporors
    • He created the theory of opposites
    • He did lots of blood letting, which Hippocrates wouldn't approve of
    • He vivisected a pig in public to show that nerves control movement
    • He was wrong about people's jaws, as he thought they were made of two bones, but actually, they are just one
    • He told doctors to observe and examine patients and to note down symptoms carefully
    • He wrote over 350 books combining Greek and his ideas which he learnt from his work in Alexandria
