    • natural experiment and structured interview, used to assess the personality of 3000 men 39-59yrs
    • questions also assessed the way the men responded to everyday pressures
    • participants were classed as Type A or Type B
    • 8 years later - twice as many (12%) of Type A had died of cardiovascular problems than those of Type B
    • Type A men also had higher blood pressure and higher levels of cholesterol
