  • French Imperfect Verbs
    • Je: take off 'er', or 're'  and add '-ais' to the end of a verb: 'Parler' becomes 'je parlais'  'Ir' is the same ending but with an 'iss' beforehand
    • Tu: take off 'er', or 're'  and add '-ais' to the end of a verb: 'Parler' becomes 'tu parlais'  'Ir' is the same ending but with an 'iss' beforehand
    • Il/Elle/On: take off 'er', or 're'  and add '-ait' to the end of a verb: 'Parler' becomes 'il parlait'. 'Ir' is the same ending but with an 'iss' beforehand
    • Nous: take off 'er', or 're'  and add '-ions' to the end of a verb: 'Parler' becomes 'nous parlions'  'Ir' is the same ending but with an 'iss' beforehand
    • Vous: take off 'er', or 're'  and add '-iez' to the end of a verb: 'Parler' becomes 'vous parliez'  'Ir' is the same ending but with an 'iss' beforehand
    • Ils/Elles: take off 'er',  or 're'  and add '-aient' to the end of a verb: 'Parler' becomes 'elles parlaient'  'Ir' is the same ending but with an 'iss' beforehand
    • When to use the imperfect: When describing an event in the past that took a period of time, something that you used to do or was interrupted
    • Some irregulars include 'voir' and 'faire'
