- FRACTIONS
- Adding
- Step 1: Make sure the bottom numbers (the denominators) are the same
- Step 2: Add the top numbers (the numerators), put the answer over the denominator
- Step 3: Simplify the fraction (if needed)
- Adding mixed fractions
- Step 1: Covert them to improper fractions. For example; 2 3/4 = 11/4
- Multiply the whole number and the denominator and add on the numerator
- Step 2: Add them together as long as the denominator is the same
- Step 3: then convert them back to mixed fractions. All these steps apply for SUBTRACTING too
- Step 1: Covert them to improper fractions. For example; 2 3/4 = 11/4
- Multiplying
- Step 1: Multiply the denominators.
- Step 2: Multiply the numerators.
- Step 3: Simplify the fraction if needed.
- Multiplying mixed fractions
- Step 1: convert to improper fractions.
- Steo 2: Multiply fractions as usual.
- Step 3: Convert back to mixed fractions.
- Dividing
- Step 1. Turn the second fraction (the one you want to divide by) upside-down
- Step 2: Multiply the fractions as usual
- Step 3: Simplify if needed
- Adding
