  • Food webs and food chains
    • The arrows show the direction that energy flows, form one organism to another
    • Food chains always begin with producers (Green Plants) which provide food for consumers
    • Producer- Organisms which can make their own energy from carbon dioxide and water using sunlight for energy (Photosynthessis)
    • Primary Consumer- organisms which eat producers (herbivores)
    • Secondary consumers- Organisms which eat primary consumers (carnivores)
    • Tertiary consumers- Organisms which eat secondary consumers
    • Each level of a food chain is known as a trophic level
    • Food chains can be connected together to form food webs.
      • If the population of one species is a food web changes it can affect many other species population
