- The arrows show the direction that energy flows, form one organism to another
- Food chains always begin with producers (Green Plants) which provide food for consumers
- Producer- Organisms which can make their own energy from carbon dioxide and water using sunlight for energy (Photosynthessis)
- Primary Consumer- organisms which eat producers (herbivores)
- Secondary consumers- Organisms which eat primary consumers (carnivores)
- Tertiary consumers- Organisms which eat secondary consumers
- Each level of a food chain is known as a trophic level
- Food chains can be connected together to form food webs.
- If the population of one species is a food web changes it can affect many other species population
