    • Starch
      • Iodine Test
        • 1. Add iodine dissolved in potassium iodine solution to sample.
          • Positive result- Blue-black solution
    • Carbs 2, Reducing Sugars
      • Benedict's test
        • 1.Add benedict's regaent.              2. HEAT
          • Cu(II) copper ions in benedicts solution are reduced to Cu(I)
          • Positive result- Orange-red precipitate
      • Fructose, Galactose, Maltose
    • Proteins
      • Biuret Test
        • 1. Test solution needs to be alkaline, add sodium hydroxide.     2. Add copper(II) sulfate solution
          • Positive Result- Purple
    • Carbs 1, Non-reducing sugars
      • Benedict's test
        • 1. Check there is no reducing sugar present, heat with benedict's reganent.
          • 2. Add dilute hydrochloric acid to rest of sample and heat- to hydrolse sample
            • 3. Neutralise the solution with sodium hydrocarbonate
              • 4. Test solution with benedict's solution and heat
                • Positive result- Orange red precipitate
      • Sucrose
    • Lipids
      • Emulsion Test
        • 1. Dissolve the sample by shaking with ethonol.         2. Pour solution into water
          • Positive result- White Emulsion
