- the follower is also shown that the poet as childhood admired his father and wanted to highly skillfulled just like him
- The sailing image gives an idea that the father was bery broad and strong (shoulders)

- It also shows that the child "i stumbled and fell sometimes" suggests that he is not very physically co-ordinated and that he will never ever be as skilled as his father
