  • fighting disease
    • White blood cells have 3 lines of attack.
      • producing antibodies when a foreign antigen is detected.
      • producing antitoxins these contract toxins produces by invading bacteria.
    • There are 2 main types of pathogen.
      • BACTERIA. they are very small and they make you feel ill by damaging your cells and producing toxins.
      • VIRUSES.they are not cells and they replicate themselves by invading your ceels and using this to make copies of themselves, the cell will then burst the cell damage is what makes u feel ill.
    • vaccinations
      • involve injecting small amounts of dead microorganisms. these carry antigens which cause your body to produce antibodies to attack them.
      • e.g a dead measles microbe is injected then the white blood cells produce antibodies to kill it.so if the microbe tries to attack agin they are recongnised quickly and attacked.
    • Drugs.
      • Painkillers just relieve the pain and reduced symptoms. they DONT tackle the cause of the disease.
      • Antibiotics  kill the bacteria causing the problem. different antibiotics kill different types of bacteria.
  • consuming microbes but engulfing them then digesting them.

      • producing antibodies when a foreign antigen is detected.
      • producing antitoxins these contract toxins produces by invading bacteria.
