  • Cotton-    fine hairs from the seeds of cotton plant. Strong, washed often, breathable, very absorbent, durable, creases badly can be blended and mixed
  • linen-  stem of flax plant. Cool to wear, absorbent, strong, hard wearing, creases badly, natural look, flammable, good to work with and bad drape
  • wool- hair of sheep or goat (fleece). Warm, absorbent, low flammability, good handle, elasticity, doesn't crease, shrink in wash, takes long time to dry.
  • Silk- cocoon of silk worm. absorbent, soft, comfortable, cool and warm, natural sheen, handles well, strong when wet, drapes well, expensive, may crease and can be spoiled by chemicals and  perspiration, doesn't burn
  • Angora Rabbit- soft, silky texture. warmer and lighter than sheep wool
  • Nettles- white long and silky fibres. silver than linen
  • Bamboo- soft, strong, easy to dye. Antibacterial properties
  • Cashmere Goats- fine in texture, strong, light, soft. warm and insulating
  • Camel Hair- used to make coats and jackets
  • Wool Fibres- overlapping scales- repel rain or liquid. Lock together when washed natural crimp and can be stretched
  • Cotton Fibres- bean like cross section that stores water. smooth surface prevents air getting trapped between fibres
