    • Intro
      • Take a critical view of the family as it oppresses women
      • Believe that gender inequality is created by society
    • Liberal Feminist
      • They want equal rights & opportunities for both men and women
      • Believe we have had huge progress but we need to make more through social policy changes
      • We are getting equality in the family but not quite there
      • Criticisms
        • Fail to challenge underlying cause of women oppression
          • Naive to think that social policies will overcome patriarchy
    • Marxist Feminist
      • Women suffer double oppression. Exploited by capitalism and patriarchy.
      • Women support capitalism by reproducing the labour force
      • Women are an army of cheap labour. women took on the jobs traditionally done by men. On there return women were then let go. 
      • Criticisms
        • Economically deterministic.Focus too much on money/ economic factors
    • Radical Feminist
      • View men as the enemy. Men benefit from women's unpaid domestic labour and sexual services. 
      • Men threaten and abuse women with violence in order to have power over them 
        • Want Political  lesbianism. Women must not sleep with the enemy.
        • Women must live a life with out men  Heterosexual relationships are oppressive to women
      • Family must be abolished by introducing Separatism. 
      • Critsicms
        • Radical Feminist fail to recognise that there has been progress already; jobs, divorce etc. 
        • Seperatism cannot work bevies the majority of people are not gay. The Nuclear family will continue
    • Differences Feminist 
      • Believe we cannot make generalisations about women's lives and experiences  
      • Women from different backgrounds will encounter different experiences
      • Criticisms
        • Difference feminist ignore the fact women may share the same experiences despite background
