- Fair food tasting
- Blind testing: tasters must not know what the samples are before trying.
- Sufficient tasters: you need to have a sufficient number of tasters sitting on the panel.
- Water; tasters should be given water to drink before tastings so that the can get rid of the taste of the previous sample
- Environment: it should be quite, clean and identical in lighting for everyone.
- Independent work: tasters should not work with other participants in case they influence their answers.
- Small sample sizes: sizes should be small so tasters don't full up too quickly.
