    • Extinction happens when an organism cannot evolve fast enough
      • Reasons
        • The environment changes too quickly
        • New predator kills them all.
        • New disease kills them all.
        • Cannot compete with others for food.
        • A catastrophic event
        • A new species develops
    • Speciation is the development of a new species
      • Isolation and natural selection
        • Isolation is where populations are separated due to a physical barrier.
          • Conditions on either side of the barrier will be slightly different
            • Because of this different characteristics will become more common in each population due to natural selection
