- Alveoli have a large surface due to specific shape and the high number of them in lungs. Also fits all of the other features.
- Villi in small intestine. Finger-like, have a large surface area due to this. Also are one cell thick and have capillaries, but are not well ventilated.
- Each villus also is covered with micro villi -- Optimum surface area
- Mitochondria are also in the cells for energy for active transport of glucose, etc.
