    • CO2 levels
      • Can be measured in weather balloons in the middle of the pacific ocean
      • Past CO2 levels can be measured by drilling into the ice at the Arctic and measuring the CO2 that fell the year that the ice fell
    • Temperature records
      • Past temperatures can be worked out through palaeoclimatology and this can show if there is a correlation between CO2 and temperatures
    • pollen in peat bogs
      • Allows scientists to see what plants grew in a area and from that guess what the temperature was at the time
    • dendroclimatology
      • a trees rings can tell what the conditions where like at a certain time according to how thick they are
    • Scientists use imprints created by past climates, known as proxies ,to interpret past climates.
