  • Evaluationary Explanation to Aggression
    • Infidility leads to Jealousy which leads to  Aggression
      • Low Parental certainty in males
      • High Parental investment in females
    • Buss et al found
      • That when asked in a questionnaire which sinoario a group of American undergraduates would find more distressing more men said their partners slleping with someone else, whereas women said their partners falling in love with someone else
        • Evaluation: Method - Questionnaires (unreliable as people are likely to lie and give socially desirable answers) - Only done on Undergrads (they may not have been in a serious relationship so unable to answer the question acuratelly)
        • This shows that men are more concerned about their patners having sex with other men - supporting parental certainty - also supports parental investment as women are more concerned about men using resources on other women
    • Evaluation of murder - Daly and Watson
      • Threat to male status
      • Lack of resources
      • Sexual Jealously
    • Evolutionary Explanations of Group displays
      • Purpose of group displays is to...
        • Promote co-operation between group members (Personal fitness)

      • Examples to support this - Haka, Military parades, Lynch mobs
      • Zak found
        • That the testosterone levels and oxynonin levels of a group of rugby players increased after a warm up exercise performed together
          • This shows that our hormones have developed so we are able to co-operate effectively as a group as well as fight off other groups
          • Evaluation: Reliable results as done in lab and took base levels at start - Corretaltional as doesn't say that these  are actually the cause of aggression
    • IDA - Nature (it is in our DNA to act aggressively when we feel threaten and need to co-operate in order to advance the gene pool) - Soically sensitive (promotes one group above another)
  • Infidility leads to Jealousy which leads to  Aggression
