- Strengths.
- Reliable as used lab experiment which means there is high control.
- Weaknesses.
- Only used male participants so is androcentric.
- US at the time was very conservative because of McCarthyism.
- Lab experiment so low ecological validity.
- 'Child of it's time' - Perrin and Spence (1981) replicated study on science and engineering students with only one out of 396 actually conforming. So it shows Asch study doesn't apply now.
- Nicholson et al (1985) replicated study finding conformity like Asch but around the time of the Falklands War.
