    • Types of euthanasia
      • Voluntary: Carried out at the request of the person
      • Involuntary: Performed without the persons permission e.g Nazi Germany
      • Non -voluntary: The person does not request it but it is deemed to be in their best interest e.g turning off a life support machine
      • Active: Giving the person something that will end their life e.g giving them a drug
      • Passive : This is either where the dose of a painkiller such as morphine is increased in the belief that it will control pain and also shorten life, or where treatment is withheld or withdrawn because all it is doing is delaying the dying process.
    • Reasons for euthanasia
      • suffering from disability
      • to die with dignity
      • bad quality of life
      • burden on family
      • physical illness stopping them from suicide
      • terminal illness
      • watching yourself deteriorate
