  • Erosion-Coastal
    • Hydraulic Action
      • Hydraulic action is when a wave breaks against a cliff face. This forces water into the cracks and weaknesses, compressing the air.
      • Hydraulic action helps to create many coastal landforms such as caves, arches, stack and stumps
      • It is a marine process
      • Hydraulic action uses destructive waves to erode the coastline
    • Attrition
      • Attrition is the smoothing and reducing of angular rock fragments into pebbles shingle and eventually sand particles
      • Attrition causes rocks to become smaller and so erodes the coastline dramatically
      • It is a marine process
    • Abrasion
      • Abrasion is the launching of rock fragments and pebbles against cliffs by waves.
      • It causes weaknesses within the cliffs
      • It contributes t the formation of coastal landforms such as caves, arches, wave cut notches and wave cut platforms
    • Solution
      • Solution is when rock such as chalk and limestone are dissolved when it comes in contact with water
      • It is a type of chemical erosion
  • Attrition causes rocks to become smaller and so erodes the coastline dramatically
