  • Amino acid monomers combine and form a dipeptide
    • It is a condensation reaction (removal of water)
      • The water is made by combining the -OH fromthe carboxyl group of the one amino acid and the  -H from the amino group of another amino acid
    • The two amino acids become linked by a peptide bond between the carbon of amino acid 1 and the nitrogen of amin acid 2.
      • The peptide bond of a dipeptide could be broken by hydrolysis
