      • Write an extended comparison of how the writers of each source convey their attitudes
        • To compare attitudes, you need to briefly summarise the main points each writer makes
      • A03: Compare writers' ideas and perspectives, as well as how these are conveyed, across two or more texts
      • Compare the methods they use to convey their attitudes
        • Support your ideas with quotations from both texts
      • Annotate your sources
        • Make two quick lists to plan your comments on their methods
      • Compare the writers' use of structure as a technique
        • Try to get an overview of how each source develops
      • Although both texts will express a viewpoint, they may have different purposes and target audiences, which will influence their style

      • 4 MARKS
      • Choose true statements from a list of statement, some of which are untrue
      • A01: identify and interpret explicit and implicit information and ideas.
    • Question 2
      • 8 MARKS
      • Summarise the differences or similarities between the two sources
      • A01: Select and synthesise evidence from different text
      • Underline or highlight different relevant phrases and sentences in both sources
      • You can write the answer in two ways
        • Deal with one source, then the other, linking your comments with a connective
        • Intertwine your comments on each source
      • Identify the most important ideas, then put them in your own words using fewer words and less detail
    • Question 3
      • A02: Explain, comment on and analyse how writers use language and structure to achieve effects and influence readers, using relevant subject terminology to support their views
      • 12 MARKS
      • Write an extended analysis of structure in one of the two sources
      • Persuasive text
        • Consider the register and tone of the text, and how they persuade
          • Underline phrases and sentences that you find persuasive
            • Make notes analysing the effects
      • Not all source texts will be persuasive, but they will have a particular perspective on an event or topic
      • Comment on persuasive language devices
        • Rhetorical questions, triads, alliteration, imagery (metaphors, similes, personification)

      • 40 MARKS
        • 24 marks  for content and organisation
          • Your ideas, How well you have fitted your writing to the given purpose and audience
          • The fluency of your writing and mastery of language techniques
          • Structure and paragraphing
          • A05: Communicate clearly, effectively and imaginatively, selecting and adapting tone, style and register for different forms, purposes and audiences
            • Organise information and ideas, using structural and grammatical features to support coherence and cohesion of texts
        • 16 marks for technical accuracy
          • Sentence structure
          • Vocabulary
          • Spelling, punctuation and grammar
          • Appropriate register, use of standard english
          • A06: Use a range of vocabulary and sentence structures for clarity purpose and effect, with accurate spelling and punctuation (20%)
