  • Energy and Life
    • ATP(Adenosine Triphosphate) is the energy molecule of the cell
      • Storing energy
        • A phosphate group is added to ADP.
      • Releasing energy
        • ATP loses a phosphate group
      • ATP can easily release and store energy by breaking and re-forming the bonds between phosphate groups.
    • Energy is the ability to do work..
      • Renewable energy
        • Wind , solar. hydro, geothermal etc. THAT DO NOT GET EXHAUSTED AND CAN BE RENEWED
      • Non renewable energy
        • Fossil fuels and nuclear energy THAT GET EXHAUSTED AND CAN NOT BE RENEWED ONCE OVER
      • Forms of enrgy include  light energy, heat energy, sound energy, chemeical energy  (in food) etc.
    • Organisms
      • Heterotrophs
        • Organisms that depend on other organisms for food.  eg:animals, humans
          • They do this by consuming other organisms
      • Autotrophs
        • Organisms that make their own food. eg. plants
          • Plants use PHOTOSYNTHESIS to prepare food for themselves. They use enrgy of sunlight to produce food molecules.
  • ATP can easily release and store energy by breaking and re-forming the bonds between phosphate groups.
