- Equipment is fit for purpose, appropriate for use and specialist equipment provided
- Ensures that the correct equipment is provided, reduces risk of injury to staff or service user
- Regular checks for damage, repairmen or disposal if necessary
- E.G. inspecting toys/ wheelchairs
- No worn out, damaged or potentially dangerous equipment in use
- The care setting should have a reporting system for damaged or faulty equipment
- Allows immediate action to be taken, reduces the risk of an accident
- Replacement program for older or worn out equipment
- A good standard of equipment is maintained
