  • Elizabeth I significance to religious change
    • ELizabeth's church lasted, and is reflected in religious practice today
      • this may be because she had the most time to enforce this religious change
    • inclusive settlement in which most people were able to use the same church
      • doctrine ambiguous to allow for this
      • only extremists were against this settlement
        • the majority of the laity in england seem easily swayed by religious change
    • however many methods that came about were due to a 'template' set by previous monarchs
      • eg. Edward had created his 42 articles(1552), which would go on to be the basis of Elizabeth's 39 articles (1563)
