    • Ability of an atom to attract an electron pair to itself in a covalent bond

    • If difference in electronegativity is high the electron density is distroted in the bond causing a dipole
    • In a polar bond one end in S- and the other S+
    • A dipole is a difference in charge between the 2 atoms caused by a shift in eletron density in the bond
    • Greater the difference in electronegativity, more polar the bond
