    • march 2010, Iceland.
    • primary effects - glacial melted and caused a flood. 8 km of ash into atmosphere. day trended to night because of ash cloud. people had to wear face mask because of ash. homes farms and roads were covered, animals had to be put in shelter. crops damaged. 100,000 flights were candled.
    • secondary effects- glacier caused a flash flood. fresh food imports had to stop (Kenya roses) = industry's   were hugely affected. water supplies were contaminated with ash. by mid April the ash cloud spreed east towards Europe.. people were stranded all over the world.
    • positive impacts - Iceland is now a massive tourist attraction and Ejyafjallajokull volcano had it own visitor centre, which gave the country a huge economy boost.
    • immediate responses - 800 people were evacuated. the flash flood destroyed bridges homes and farm land. bulldozers quickly came to help fix and rebuild damaged things.
    • long term responses - reconstruction of damage structures eg roads. local flood defences were put in place.
    • negtive impacts - darkness. farmers land distroyed. cancled flights costin £80 million, people were stranded. no fresh food or raw goods. water suply contamiated. flooding.
