      • emigrating fund to help people travel there, increasing population
      • some Indians even turned mormon
    • No trade with gentiles
    • Problems
      • Since children spent so much time farming, bad education so no developments happened
      • first crops were destroyed by grasshoppers
      • insufficient money and workers
      • Mountain Meadow Massacre
        • 1. Emigrants shouting at converted Indians.
          • 2.Got angry so killed 7 of the emigrants- blamed the Indians
            • 3. Mormons were worried it would spread so killed all 140 emmigrants.
              • 4.Government sent in troops so Mormons  fled to SLC. Offered pardon if they accepted US governcy.
