E15 Volcano eruption

    • The E15 is a stratovolcano on the boundary of the North American plate and the Eurasian plate. This is a destructive plate boundary
    • The E15 is in the southern part of Iceland
    • On 15/04/10, the ash travelled all over Europe and reached 5 miles in altitude
    • Most recent eruption was on the 20th March 2010, in April the eruption entered a second phase
    • Over 5,000 people were evacuated
    • Airlines were cancelled or postponed
    • A sudden rise in water levels and temperature due to the melted ice from the glacier
    • The Iceland Food and Vetenairy dept. rose alarms to farmers making it hard to raise livestock and crops
    • Glass formed under the volcano and was blown up into the atmosphere
