- damages respiratory system as tar clogs up alveoli making less efficient gaseous exchange
- Also, nicotine causes the blood vessels to tighten and is addictive
- damages the cariovascular system by increaing the risk of heart disease, cancer and bronchitis

- Affects your co-ordination, speech and judgement meaning you are more likely to hurt yourself
- Slows reactions, increases fatigue and increases blood pressure
- Long term leads to liver and kidney damage, muscle damage, brain damage and problems with the digestive and immune system
