- IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME (IBS)
- CAUSES
- food intolerances or sensitivities
- bacterial infections in your digestive tract
- stressful or difficult early life events (abuse)
- SYMPTOMS
- Abdominal pain and cramping
- changes in bowel habits - diarrhoea, constipation
- flatulence
- nausea
- incontinence
- pain during sex (dyspareunia)
- TREATMENT+ PREVENTION
- TO AVOID DIARRHOEA
- cut down on high-fibre foods such as brown bread, brown rice, nuts and seeds
- avoid products containing the sweetener called sorbitol
- TO AVOID BLOATING, CRAMPS AND WIND
- avoid foods that are hard to digest such as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower
- eat up to 1 tablespoon of linseeds a day
- TO AVOID DIARRHOEA
