  • IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME (IBS)
    • CAUSES
      • food intolerances or sensitivities
      • bacterial infections in your digestive tract
      • stressful or difficult early life events (abuse)
    • SYMPTOMS
      • Abdominal pain and cramping
      • changes in bowel habits - diarrhoea, constipation
      • flatulence
      • nausea
      • incontinence
      • pain during sex (dyspareunia)
    • TREATMENT+ PREVENTION
      • TO AVOID DIARRHOEA
        • cut down on high-fibre foods such as brown bread, brown rice, nuts and seeds
        • avoid products containing the sweetener called sorbitol
      • TO AVOID BLOATING, CRAMPS AND WIND
        • avoid foods that are hard to digest such as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower
        • eat up to 1 tablespoon of linseeds a day
