    • Mouth
      • food is broken down by the teeth and enzyme amylase
      • Amylase breaks down carbohydrates into sugar
    • Stomach
      • food passes down from the oesophagus into the stomach
      • The food mixes with the stomach acids and enzymes
    • Small Intestine
      • Food passes into the small intestine where more enzymes are released to break down carbohydrates proteins and fats.
      • The smaller molecules are absorbed by Villi.
      • Villi increase the surface area of the small intestine to absorb more nutrienst
    • Large Intestine
      • Absorbs water to put back into the body
    • Rectum
      • The undigested food molecules form faecus and pass through the rectum to excreted via the anus
