- A literal place of punishment and separation from God.
- Soul are annihilated after death rather than eternally punished.

- Accessed only by those who have accepted Christ in this life.
- God ensures everyone eventually gets to be with God in heaven.
- Souls go to purgatory to be cleansed/purified before going to heaven and the soul is united with the body(Catholicism).
